Materials
The board and the edge decide the life of the piece.
Pet furniture is wet, scratched and cleaned with chemicals. Most of it fails at the edge, not in the middle of the panel. This page is what we specify — so you can argue with the spec before you order a container.
Boards
MDF where it matters, particleboard where it does not.
Door faces, door returns and anything that gets a machined edge are MDF — it machines cleanly and takes a tight edge. Carcass sides and shelving are usually particleboard, which is cheaper and stiff enough in 18 mm. The mix is quoted per SKU, not hidden.

Edge banding
PUR, because EVA lets go.
EVA hot melt is thermoplastic: it softens with heat and humidity, and the line creeps. PUR is moisture-curing polyurethane — once it reacts it is not re-meltable, so the joint is water-resistant rather than water-sensitive. It is what the kitchen and bathroom lines use, and it costs more.
- 0.5 mm ABS for straight panels, 1.0 mm on door fronts, 2.0 mm on tops and edges that take knocks
- Colour matched to the board face and to the foil, so the joint reads as solid
- PUR glue on every exposed edge, including shelf fronts and the inside of box steps
- Hand-checked on the sample, machine-trimmed on production
Finishes
Four finishes, one palette.
Melamine paper, PVC foil, real veneer and powder-coated steel are the four surfaces in the range. We keep one palette across the products so a mixed container looks like a collection rather than a catalogue.
